Boopis the Hippopotamus

Boopis is a cold porcelain figurine made as an easter gift. she's going to another girl in my marine biology group, who happens to be a hippo enthusiast. it's a throw-together gesture gift, so please excuse the very visible tape.

Boopis' habitat is on the underside of the box she's going to come in. the trees are a scotche too tall and bend when the lid is on, but i don't this it compromises the effect of the gift so they're staying like that.

the hippo was painted with acrylics and was oddly sparkly. i antiqued her with some brown paint and i think it successfully dulled the purple down into a more hippoish color.

sculpture fun fact: "Boopis" means cow-faced, and was a nickname given to Hera because she was described as having lovely eyes.
